The Details

  • Post struck less than 15 seconds into the contest after Wysocki got the Eagles on the board. Stonehill drew two powerplay opportunities to even the contest but despite the extra skater advantage twice, Post kept Stonehill's offense at bay and headed into the second with a 1-0 lead.
  • In the second Stonehill's offense had multiple great looks and outshot the Eagles by an 11-2 margin but unfortnautely could not find the back of the net despite a stretch toward the end of the period where Lily Barrett, Whaley, and Russell peppered Glasurd with three great looks but were turned away.
  • Despite not scoring in the first two periods, the Skyhawks' aggressive offense finally paid off as Feeney knotted things at one after she put home a one-timer near the blue line after a great feed from Russell.
  • The Eagles however responded two quick goals of their own in the third courtesy of Terrazzano and Abeyta and took a 3-1 lead with less than 15 minutes left to play (14:20).
  • With a little under 12 minutes to play (11:52), Feeney swung the puck over to Petford in the left face-off circle and she sent her shot past Glasurd's weakside and cut Post's lead to one (3-2).
  • Less than three minutes left to play in regulation (2:47), Sonntag evened the game at three after she and Russell played some give-and-go and once Sonntag corralled the puck, she beat Glasurd stickside.
  • Both sides played a hard fought overtime as the Skyhawks outshot the Eagles, 8-5. Post had a great chance for the game-winner when Grom was in front of Stonehill's net but Stone stonewalled her and kept things tied at three going into the second extra period.
  • As the second overtime got underway and less than four minutes into the frame (03:23), Petford fed Whaley on Glasurd's left side and despite her initial shot being stopped, Whaley corralled the juicy rebound and flipped the puck over a sprawled out Glasurd for the game-winning goal.
  • Despite not making the initial start, Stone played great in relief appearence for the Skyhawks as she made nine big stops that kept the squad within striking distance to pull out the win.
