EASTON, MASS. (October 11, 2022)- After posting a two-goal weekend against Post University, Gracie Sacca was named the New England Women's Hockey Alliance Player of the Week as announced by the conference office earlier this afternoon.

In Friday's matchup versus the Eagles, Sacca netted the game-winning goal with just under two minutes (1:34) remaining in the extra frame. Not only was Friday's goal the program's first-ever game-winning goal, but it was also Sacca's first collegiate goal in her career. She is now one of nine Skyhawks to score a goal this year and is currently tied for the team lead in goals with two. Sacca is also tied for third in the NEWHA for goals along with teammate Alexis Petford.

The women's hockey team also saw three others earn NEWHA Honor Roll selections including Josie Mendeszoon (Defensive Player of the Week Honor Roll), Eve Stone (Goaltender of the Week Honor Roll), and Lucie Turcotte (Rookie of the Week Honor Roll).

Mendeszoon finished the weekend with two blocked shots along with one shot in each game. Stone finished with 13 saves in Friday's 4-3 overtime thriller over Post. It was Stone's first collegiate start and her strong performance in net helped the Skyhawks earn their first-ever conference and program win. Finally, on Saturday, Turcotte scored the program's first-ever powerplay goal in the team's 4-2 win over Post.

Stonehill continues their five-game homestand when the squad hosts Saint Michael's College for a NEWHA weekend doubleheader starting on Friday, October 14 at 5 p.m. followed by a matchup the next day versus the Purple Knights at 1 p.m. The week after, the Skyhawks head out to Brown University for a non-conference home and home on Friday, October 21 at 6 p.m. and then come back to the Bridgewater Ice Arena the next day for a 5 p.m. matchup. The purple and white then wrap up the month of October with another home-and-home matchup, against conference member, Franklin Pierce University. Stonehill will host the Ravens on Friday, October 28 at 5 p.m. and then head up to Franklin Pierce the next day for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
