The Details

  • Stonehill and Saint Anselm went back and forth early on, but with 5:13 left in the first, Feeney forced a Hawks turnover on Stonehill's side of the ice and then pushed ahead into the Saint Anselm zone. After she fired a shot from the left face-off circle, Turcotte corralled the miss she swung the puck back to Geist who skated down from center ice and put home her shot past Kelley's glove side. Geist has now scored in three straight games for the squad.
  • The Skyhawks continued their offensive pressure when just less than two minutes later at 3:43 when Walkom pushed the puck ahead to Achtyl by the Hawks bench and she then dished the puck ahead to Sacca who put home a wrister and doubled the Stonehill lead. However, with just 1:38 left in the opening period, Saint Anselm trimmed the deficit to one when Donovan snuck past a loose puck in front of Zukow.
  • As the second half got underway, the Hawks tied things at two with 12:24 left in the second when Weber generated a turnover at the Skyhawks blue line and dished a cross-crease pass to Pancoast for the tying goal.
  • Despite the tie, the squad had a great opportunity in the second to pull ahead on a powerplay opportunity where Stonehill fired off five shots led by two from Alexis Petford but the Hawks defense and Kelley held strong and kept things tied at two.
  • With less than two minutes left in the second (1:12), Saint Anselm pulled ahead 3-2 when Golini sent a pass over in the slot for a crashing Turner who redirected the play into the left side past Zukow.
  • In the final period, the Hawks tacked on two more goals off the sticks of Weber 9:29 into the third and then an empty-netter by Jackson after 18:18 of action. However, Stonehill made things interesting late with 1:17 left to play when Squires found an open Achtyl up ahead on the right side of the ice who quickly found an open Walkom on Kelley's glove side and put the puck past her upper right side.
  • Even though the squad cut the lead to two, Petford had a late shot attempt to cut the Saint Anselm lead to one, but was turned away by Kelley for the 5-3 Hawks win.
