The Details

  • Stonehill wasted no time as the squad scored a little over five minutes into the frame (14:55). After Walkom received a great look from Russell, she pushed the puck ahead past the Purple Knights defense and put home the opening goal past Mudrak's left side.
  • Nearly four minutes later (10:45), Turcotte set up Geist in the slot and she rifled home a one-timer and doubled up the Skyhawks lead (2-0).
  • However, with less than 10 minuts left in the first (06:22), Saint Michael's cut the deficit down to one when Langbacka made second effort at the puck in front of Stone and snuck it past the Stonehill netminder.
  • Despite not scoring in the second, Stonehill outshot Saint Michael's by a 16-4 margin led by Carey's five. Overall on the day, the squad outshot the hosts, 46-19.
  • Just like the first period, the Purple and White struck early (16:06) when after there was a loose puck in the slot, Petford sent a pass out front to Karo at the top of the crease and pushed Stonehill's lead back up to two (3-1).
  • From there, Stone and the Stonehill defense kept the Purple Knights off the board for the eventual 3-1 victory.
