EASTON, Mass. (January 24, 2023)- After splitting last weekend with Saint Anselm which included an 8-3 win Saturday, Alexis Petford and Lily Geist were named the New England Women's Hockey Alliance Player and Rookie of the Week respectively. Petford and Geist are the third Skyhawks duo to win two NEWHA awards in the same week.

For Petford, it is her fourth overall NEWHA award and second player of the week. She is now just one of three student-athletes in the NEWHA to win player. In last Saturday's win at Saint Anselm, Petford scored the first hat trick in program history which now brings her total up to 20 goals on the year. The freshman now leads the NEWHA in goals and is also just one of three student-athletes in the country with at least 20 goals. She is currently tied for second and just one off from the lead in all of Division I. Overall on the year, Petford has now posted four multi-goal games on the season.

Geist has now won rookie of the week in back-to-back weeks and is her second overall weekly NEWHA award. She joins Petford as the only two Skyhawsk to win rookie of the week twice this year. Geist had a solid weekend for the Purple and White as the freshman forward posted three goals and assist for four points. After she netted a goal in Friday's series opener against the Hawks, Geist poured in two goals the next day and also had one helper in Saturday's win. Geist has now posted twice in her last four games and has also scored at least one goal in four straight contests.

Stonehill also saw two other student-athletes earn honor roll including Hanna Zukow (Goaltender of the week) and Lily Barrett (Defensive Player of the Week). Zukow combined for 48 saves in both games against Saint Anselm which included a 30-save performance in Saturday's win at the Hawks. Zukow also finished with a .909 save percentage in the win and is now second in the conference in the category. Meanwhile, Barrett finished with two blocked shots in Saturday's win at Saint Anselm and also assisted on Turcotte's goal which sealed the win.
