The Details
- Less than five minutes into the first, the Orange struck first when D'Arcy corralled a free puck on the Syracuse blue line and found McHale up ahead on the ice. From there, she took the puck to the left face-off circle and put home Syracuse's opening goal.
- Later in the frame, Syracuse doubled up their lead when Clemons snuck past the loose puck from Johnson's initial shot on net and took a 2-0 lead going into the second.
- Nearly nine minutes into the second (08:30), Stonehill had a great chance to cut the deficit one after drawing a powerplay. However, Syracyse's defense held the Skyhawks without a score during the extra skater advantage.
- Later in the second, the Orange tacked on two more goals courtesy of Batherson and Thompson at 11:02 and 13:00 respectively.
- Going into the period down 4-0, the Purple and White eventually got on the board courtesy of Petford's nation-leading 25th goal on the year. Sonntag found a loose puck down on Syracuse's end of the ice on the right boards and from there, she saw an open Whaley in front of th net. Whaley then dumped the puck down to Petford who was wide open on DeSmet's stickside and tapped the puck in and made it 4-1.
- With a little over a minute left in the third, Stonehill cut Syracuse's lead to two (4-2) when Feeney sent a pass from the right face-off circle to the left circle which allowed Whaley for the one-timer.
- Despite cutting into the deficit late, Syracuse ended up holding on for the 4-2 win.
