The Details

  • Despite the Ravens striking first, Stonehill responded as the opening period came to a close when Petford skated up the ice from center ice, and on the one-on-one chance versus Hertl, the freshman beat the Ravens netminder stickside as the squad headed into the second with momentum.
  • In the next frame, it was all Stonehill as the Skyhawks netted three goals to ultimately go ahead 4-1 going into the final period. Karo netted the go-ahead goal less than five minutes into the second (15:55) after Mendeszoon dumped the puck to a waiting Karo in the right face-off circle as she fired her shot past Hertl for her fourth goal of the season.
  • A little over a minute later (14:23), Petford potted her second goal on the night when Turcotte forced a Ravens turnover by center ice and after she passed the puck to Tuffy, she passed it right back to Turcotte. Turcotte then found an open Petford in the opposite face-off circle on the left side and beat an out-of-place Hertl for a 3-1 advantage.
  • The Purple and White's third goal came with 7:26 left in the period when Turcotte skated behind the Ravens net and found an open Sacca right in front as she put home the team's fourth goal. As the third got underway, Stonehill continued their momentum when Geist snuck the puck past Hertl's glove side after another great look by Turcotte.
  • Franklin Pierce would get one goal back later in the period off the stick of Kelley to make it 5-2, but Stonehill answered with a goal of their own to go back up four (6-2) when Geist scored her second goal of the evening courtesy of a great pass from Turcotte. Turcotte's four assists marked a new career-high for the freshman forward and are also a single-game high from any Skyhawk this season.
  • While Franklin Pierce would get one more goal with 2:32 left, the Skyhawks held on for the 6-3 victory. It also marked the eighth time this year the squad has posted four or more goals in a game.
