The Details

  • In a first period that saw no scoring, Stonehill played aggressively as the squad put up eight shots led by Petford's three. However, as the second half got underway, Franklin Pierce took a 1-0 lead courtesy of Caban just 2:40 into the second.
  • However, nearly six minutes later (08:35), Stonehill capitalized on a power play opportunity after Petford and Whaley set up a give-and-go play that allowed Petford to put the puck past Hertl and evened the contest at one. For the rest of the period, Zukow stonewalled all of Franklin Pierce's attempts and kept the Skyhawks within striking distance to take the lead heading into the final frame.
  • Not even five minutes into the third period (03:48), Karo gave the squad the lead for good after Squires tapped the puck up to Achtyl who then found an open Karo who took advantage of an out-of-position Hertl.
  • Franklin Pierce had multiple chances to even the contest at two but Zukow was a wall from the early part of the second as she continued to deny the Ravens. With nearly six minutes left (06:32), the Purple and White had the puck down by the Ravens net and Feeny sent the puck over an open Geist who gave the Skyhawks a two-goal lead again (3-1).
  • As the period wound down, Karo put home an empty netter after Geist corralled the puck behind an empty Franklin Pierce net and sent it up front to an open Karo. For Karo, today's two-goal performance is the first of her career.
  • With today's win, Stonehill took the season series over Franklin Pierce winning three of the four matchups and outscoring the Ravens by a 17-11 margin.
