Petford Named NEWHA Player And Rookie Of The Week

EASTON, Mass. (November 15, 2022)- After posting a three-point weekend, Alexis Petford was named the New England Women's Hockey Alliance Player and Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference earlier today. It is Petford's first Player of the Week award and second Rookie of the Week award from the NEWHA.

Petford finished last weekend with three total goals which included a two-goal performance in last Friday's 4-1 win at Sacred Heart. Petford has now posted two multi-goal games on the year when her other two-goal game came against Saint Michael's College (Oct. 15). She also scored the initial go-ahead goal for the Skyhawks last Saturday against the Pioneers that had made it 2-1. Petford now ranks second in the conference for goals (nine).

Stonehill goalie, Hanna Zukow also was named to the NEWHA's honor roll for Defensive Player of the Week. Zukow posted her seventh 20+ save game of the season in Friday's win at Sacred Heart when the sophomore goalie finished with 20 saves versus the Pioneers.

The Skyhawks remain on the road this weekend when the squad travels to Long Island University starting on Friday, November 18 at 2:30 p.m. Stonehill then rounds out the month of November with a two-game set when the squad hosts RPI on Friday, November 25 at 5 p.m.
