Paradiso Sweeps NE-10 Weekly Honors for Second Time

Birmingham, Mich., freshman named NE-10 Player and Rookie of the Week for second time in three weeks

EASTON, Mass. (October 3, 2012) – Stonehill College freshman Bailey Paradiso (Birmingham, Mich./Marian) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference's Player and Rookie of the Week for women's tennis by the league office.

Paradiso, who sweeps the NE-10 weekly honors for the second time in three weeks, led Stonehill to a pair of 9-0 victories at Post University and The College of Saint Rose by going a combined 4-0 in singles and doubles play, competing at the No. 1 flight for both. She opened the week as a double-winner at Post without dropping a single game, posting a 6-0, 6-0 victory over junior Pamela Ifill after teaming up with senior Paige Frost (Brigantine, N.J./Holy Spirit) for an 8-0 decision in doubles. Paradiso was also a double-winner at Saint Rose, claiming a 6-1, 6-1 victory over senior Jennifer Crego after she and Frost claimed an 8-4 doubles win.

Paradiso is off to a combined 14-3 start in singles and doubles play to her collegiate career. She has posted a 5-2 singles record, including a 4-1 mark at No. 1 singles and a 3-0 start to her NE-10 career. Paradiso and Frost have teamed up to go 9-1 in doubles play, including a 5-0 dual match record at the top flight and a 3-0 mark in the NE-10. The duo also reached the B-Doubles bracket semifinals at the ITA East Regional in Philadelphia two weeks ago.

Paradiso comes to Stonehill after a standout career at Marian High School in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., where she captured five individual state tennis championships and was part of a Mustangs team that won a state championship her sophomore year. The three-time All-State performer won three singles state championships and two doubles titles over her career. She was also an honorable mention All-State selection as a freshman.

Stonehill (5-0, 3-0 NE-10), ranked fifth in the ITA East Regional rankings, had today's non-conference match at College of the Holy Cross postponed until the second semester. The Skyhawks next match is Saturday when they visit Le Moyne College for a Northeast-10 matchup at 10 a.m. Stonehill's next home match is Tuesday, October 9, when it hosts the University of New Haven at 3 p.m.
