Skyhawks cruise to win without dropping game

WATERBURY, Conn. (September 27, 2012) – Stonehill College, ranked fifth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional rankings, didn't drop a game all afternoon in cruising to a 9-0 victory over Post University in non-conference women's tennis action at Chase Collegiate School this afternoon.

Stonehill breezed to six 6-0, 6-0 wins in singles play after claiming three 8-0 doubles victories over Post. Senior Paige Frost (Brigantine, N.J./Holy Spirit), sophomore Meryl Lawrence (North Scituate, R.I./Mount Saint Charles Academy) and freshmen Bailey Paradiso (Birmingham, Mich./Marian) and Analise Kump (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) were all double-winners to lead the Skyhawks to the win.

Paradiso and Frost combined to claim an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles before Paradiso rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Post junior Pamela Ifill (Waterbury, Conn./Wilby) at No. 1 singles. Frost cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win over senior Maxcine Swaby (Brooklyn, N.Y./Base) at No. 4 singles.

Lawrence and Kump teamed up for an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles before Kump swept her way to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over freshman Daysy Chin (Danbury, Conn./Danbury) at No. 2 singles. Lawrence claimed a 6-0, 6-0 win over junior Leah Grabowski (Terryville, Conn./Naugatuck) at No. 3.

Senior Chelsea Haedrich (Islip, N.Y./Islip) and freshman Kirsti Toegemann (Narragansett, R.I./The Lincoln School) combined to win at No. 3 doubles, while freshman Caitlin McKinney (Braintree, Mass./Braintree) and sophomore Olivia Schneider (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) collected wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

Stonehill (4-0, 2-0 NE-10) returns to action on Sunday when it visits The College of Saint Rose for an NE-10 dual match at 1 p.m. The Skyhawks next home match isn't until October 9, when it hosts the University of New Haven for a Conference clash at 3 p.m. Post (0-5, 0-3 CACC) visits Chestnut Hill College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
