Dyring-Andersen Named NEWHA Defensive Player of the Month

Dyring-Andersen

EASTON, Mass. (November 1, 2023) – For her performance throughout the first month of the season, Stonehill College women's ice hockey first-year defender Pusle Dyring-Andersen was named the New England Women's Hockey Alliance's (NEWHA) Defensive Player of the Month. The official announcement from the organization came on Wednesday afternoon. It is Dyring-Andersen's first monthly award and third NEWHA recognition this season.

Dyring-Andersen continues her strong rookie campaign as the defender has already been named a NEWHA Rookie and Defensive Player of the Week back on Tuesday, Oct. 24, after recording her first-career goal against Saint Anselm on Oct. 20. She is just one of three Skyhawks so far this season to have won a weekly NEWHA award, including junior goaltender Hanna Zukow and senior captain Grace Parker.

The first-year defender has also been a puck magnet in the defensive zone for the Skyhawks, blocking a team-high 19 shots thus far, 11 more than the next highest mark on the team (8). Dyring-Andersen recorded her first multi-point game after dishing out her first two career assists against Assumption on Oct. 27, in the Skyhawks' 4-1 win over the Greyhounds.

The Trosa, Stockholm native leads the trio of Stonehill first-year athletes with her mark of three points off a goal and a pair of assists. Classmates of Dyring-Andersen, Peyton Wise and Makenna Slocum each have contributed offensively for the Skyhawks, combing for a goal and two assists on the season.

Stonehill (4-6-0, 4-2-0 NEWHA) continues its conference slate this weekend hosting Saint Michael's College at the Bridgewater Ice Arena. Puck drop between the Skyhawks and Purple Knights on Friday is set for 5 P.M.
