BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (October 13, 2023) – The Stonehill College women's ice hockey team came up short in its conference opener against Post University, 3-2, on Friday night.

Highlights

  • First-year student Noa Farberman scored her first collegiate goal, while sophomore Maddy Noonan, and junior Caisey Van Den Oetelaar each scored their first goals of the season.
  • Senior netminder Grace Glasrud earned her first win in goal for Post after tallying 36 saves on the night.
  • Senior Paige Whaley and sophomore Maddison Achtyl each scored their first goals of the season.
  • Sophomore Alexis Petford dished out her second assist on the young campaign.
  • Junior goaltender Hanna Zukow registered 14 saves in between the pipes for the Skyhawks.

How it Happened

  • Post opened the scoring at the 3:31 mark of the opening period after Noonan found the back of the net after capitalizing on a loose puck in front of Zukow in net.
  • Stonehill would respond with just under five minutes to go in the opening frame after Whaley's clean win in the faceoff circle found the stick of Achtyl who scored on a wrist shot from just inside the blue line of the offensive zone, tying the game up at one apiece heading into the break.
  • The Skyhawks offense dominated the second, outshooting the Eagles 14-3. However, Stonehill was unable to break through and take the lead, as the game would remain knotted at 1-1 heading into the third.
  • Post regained its lead in the final frame of regulation, scoring two goals in a two-minute span early in the third. However, the Skyhawks were able to pull one goal back after converting their second power-play goal of the day after Whaley found the back of the net on a perfect cross-ice pass from Achtyl.
  • Despite the late effort to score the equalizer, the Skyhawks would come up short, falling to the Eagles, 3-2.

  • Post earned its first win against Stonehill on Friday, however, the Skyhawks still lead the all-time series 6-1.
  • Stonehill outshot the Eagles 38-17 and won the faceoff battle 33-22.
