Women's Ice Hockey Reveals 2023-24 Schedule

EASTON, Mass. (July 25, 2023)- The Stonehill College women's ice hockey program and head coach Lee-J Mirasolo has announced its 2023-24 season schedule with 35 contests throughout the year starting in September.

"We are really excited about the growth of our league and the competitive opportunities it affords our Skyhawk student-athletes," said Mirasolo. Playing outside of our conference is a phenomenal opportunity to showcase what we are building at Stonehill and in the NEWHA."

Stonehill finished their inaugural season with a 19-16-2 record while going 14-9-1 in NEWHA action for 29 points in the regular season which clinched the three-seed in the NEWHA playoffs. In Stonehill's NEWHA playoff debut, the Purple and White had an opening-round sweep of Post University in which Stonehill outscored the Eagles, 11-4 in both games. However, in the second round, the Skyhawks fell 4-2 in a back-and-forth battle with Saint Anselm. 

After taking on Hockey East member, Boston College in an exhibition on Saturday, Sept. 23, at 1 p.m., Stonehill officially kicks off the season with a road matchup against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Friday, Sept. 29 and Saturday, Sept. 30 at 6 p.m. and 3 p.m. respectively. The squad then welcomes back all of Skyhawk Nation to the Bridgewater Ice Arena for two weekend's worth of matchups. Kicking off the home-opening weekend, Stonehill hosts the University of Maine on Friday, Oct. 6 at 5 p.m. and on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 1 p.m. The Purple and White conclude the homestand in their NEWHA opener by hosting Post University on Friday, Oct. 13 (5 p.m.) and Saturday, Oct. 14 (1 p.m.).

The Skyhawks next have back-to-back home-and-home's first with Saint Anselm College on Friday, Oct. 20 (TBA) at Sullivan Ice Arena and Saturday, Oct. 20 (1 p.m.) back at the Bridgewater Ice Arena. Stonehill concludes the month of October taking on the newest member of the NEWHA, Assumption University on Friday, Oct. 27 (TBA) and Saturday, Oct. 28 (1 p.m.). 

The Purple and White start November with a weekend home matchup versus NEWHA member, Saint Michael's College on Friday, Nov. 3 (5 p.m.) and Saturday, Nov. 4 (1 p.m.). However, the next weekened, Stonehill heads on the road to Sacred Heart University for a NEWHA matchup on Friday, Nov. 10 (2 p.m.) and Saturday, Nov. 11 (2 p.m.) followed by a home set with Long Island University on Friday, Nov. 17 (5 p.m.) and Saturday, Nov. 18 (1 p.m.). The Skyhawks take a brief break from NEWHA action and head to St. Louis and take on Lindenwood University on Friday, Nov. 24 (7 p.m.) and Saturday, Nov. 25 (4 p.m.). 

Stonehill resumes conference play with a home-and-home hosting Franklin Pierce University on Friday, Dec. 1 (5 p.m.) and then traveling to the Ravens on Saturday, Dec. 2 (TBA). 

The Skyhawks start off the new year with multiple NEWHA contests led by a road matchup at Post University on Friday, Jan. 5 (TBA) and Saturday, Jan. 6 (TBA) and then come back to host Assumption University on a home-and-home. Stonehill takes on the Greyhounds on Friday, Jan. 12 (5 p.m.) and then heads out to Worcester Ice Arena on Saturday, Jan. 13 ( TBA).

The Purple and White continue the road trip when the squad heads out to Burlington, Vt. for a weekend series at Saint Michael's College starting on Friday, Jan. 19 and Saturday, Jan. 20 at times to be determined later. Stonehill concludes the month of January with a home set against the Pioneers of Sacred Heart University on Friday, Jan. 26 (5 p.m.) and Saturday, Jan. 27 ( 1 p.m.).

Starting off the final month of the season, the Skyhawks head out to Brookeville, N.Y. for a NEWHA road contest versus Long Island University on Friday, Feb. 2 and Saturday, Feb. 3 both at 3 p.m. and 2 p.m. respectively. The rest of the season concludes with home-and-homes against Franklin Pierce University on Friday, Feb. 9 (TBA) at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena, and then back home on Saturday, Feb. 10 (1 p.m.). The squad finishes the regular season hosting Saint Anselm College on Friday, Feb. 16 ( 5 p.m.) and then wraps up the season on Saturday, Feb. 17 (1 p.m.).
