Siaba Leads Five Top Fives for Men's Track & Field at URI Coaches’ Tribute Meet


Siaba posted a pair of personal-bests and won the triple jump with his two top three performances

Brockton, Massachusetts, sophomore wins triple jump and takes third in long jump

KINGSTON, R.I. (February 8, 2020) –Stonehill College turned in five top five finishes to highlight its day at the URI Coaches' Tribute Meet, hosted by the University of Rhode Island, at Mackal Fieldhouse today. 

Highlights

  • Sophomore Michel-Ange Siaba turned in a pair of top five finishes to lead the way for Stonehill, winning the triple jump with a personal-best matching distance of 45-feet, 11.75-inches – nearly a foot and a half in front of University of Harford freshman Christopher Fils (44-6.00) in second. Siaba also placed third out of 19 entries in the long jump, by clearing a personal-best distance of 22-feet, 1.50-inches, finishing behind only two competitors from Brown University. Freshman Sam Anderson finished fourth in the triple jump with a personal-best leap of 43-feet, 1-inch, and was eighth in the long jump at a personal-best 20-8.00.
  • Senior Sean Conlan took third in the 3000-meter run in 8:52.80, leading the non-Division I entries in his indoor debut for the event.
  • Sophomore Evan Kennedy finished fourth out of 18 entries in the 800-meter run in a personal-best 1:58.48, finishing first among non-Division I entries in the event. Senior Jeremy Breen placed 14th in 2:03.53.
  • Senior Collin Kuchachik finished seventh in the 60-meter high hurdles in 8.89-seconds after qualifying eight in the prelims in 8.76-seconds. He was the only non-Division I hurdler to qualify for the event final. Freshman Jake Dwyer was 15th out of 23 in the prelims in 9.14-seconds.

    Sophomore Anthony Magazzu placed eighth out of 16 competitors in the 500-meter dash in 1:09.14, while freshman Jeremiah Kidd-Taylor finished tenth in his debut for the event in 1:09.57.

Other Results

  • Sophomore Jack Bowers finished tenth out of 29 entries in the 400-meter dash in 53.32, finishing first among non-Division I entries in the event. Freshman Derek Cole placed 22nd in a personal-best 54.78.
  • Sophomore Robert Lisi placed 12th out of 21 entries in the weight throw, clearing a distance of 41-feet, 0.25-inches, while senior William Lyons was 16th with a personal-best throw of 37-7.75.
  • Freshman Tyler Thomas placed 14th out of 21 competitors in the shot put with a personal-best distance of 40-feet, 10.5-inches. Lisi finished 17th at 37-9.25-inches, while freshman Daniel Bennett was 20th at 33-2.00.
  • Senior Jeff Pichie finished 18th out of 37 entries in the one mile run in a personal-best 4:29.26. Freshman Colin Black placed 24th in 4:35.29, while sophomore Shane Braz was 27th in 4:36.76.
