Bernard Collects Second-Straight NE10 Field Rookie of the Week

EASTON, Mass. (February 4, 2020) – Stonehill College freshman Cameron Bernard has been named the Northeast-10 Conference's Field Rookie of the Week for the second-straight week and third time this season overall by the league office today.

Bernard qualified in two events at the New England Indoor Track & Field Championships over the weekend and turned in two solid performances in his championship debut. He started by finishing 19th out of 24 championship qualifiers in the long jump on Friday, clearing a distance of 21-feet, 3.25-inches. Bernard followed that up with a 14th place finish out of 20 qualifiers in the triple jump with a distance of 43-feet, 1.50-inches on Saturday.

Bernard, who has earned NE10 Field Rookie of the Week honors for the third time over the last four weeks, has competed at all five of Stonehill's events in his first collegiate season. He established a season-high in the long jump of 21-feet, 11-inches for a sixth place finish at Harvard's Beantown Challenge on January 11, which ranks third on the NE10 performance charts this winter. Bernard posted a season-long triple jump of 43-feet, 5.25-inches for third place at the USM Open on January 25 that ranks seventh in the NE10. He also has competed in the 60-meter hurdles (8.80-seconds, 1/11), 60-meter dash (7.33-seconds, 1/11) and high jump (6-feet, 0.75-inches, 1/25) this season, ranking sixth on the NE10 performance chart for the high jump and 12th in the 60-meter hurdles.

Stonehill is back in action on Saturday, when it competes at the URI Coaches Tribute Meet, hosted by the University of Rhode Island, starting at 11 a.m.
