McNamee Earns All-New England Honors in Mile

Skyhawks finish 18th in team standings after finishing New England Indoor Championships with two All-New England honors

DORCHESTER, Mass. (February 1, 2020) –Stonehill College finished the New England Indoor Track & Field Championships with a pair of All-New England performances after sophomore Nickolas McNamee finished fourth in the one mile run at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center today.

Highlights

  • McNamee earned All-New England honors for the third time in his career with his fourth place finish in the one mile run. He finished first among non-Division I runners in the event out of 25 qualifiers in a personal-best 4:12.48, marking the second-straight year he posted an All-New England finish in the indoor mile.
  • Sophomore Michel-Ange Siaba narrowly missed All-New England honors in the heptathlon, finishing ninth with a personal-best 4,412 points. He started day two with a second place finish in the 60-meter hurdles in a personal-best 8.89-seconds to earn 770 points. Siaba followed that up by earning 347 points in the pole vault by clearing 9-feet, 8.50-inches and then finishing eighth in the 1000-meter run in 2:57.02 for 694 points. He picked up 700 points with his second place finish in the long jump on Friday (21-04.25), as well as 772 points with a fifth place finish in the 60-meter dash (7.32).

  • Stonehill's 4x800-meter relay finished 13th out of 18 relays in 7:54.90 – good for third among NE10 teams. McNamee ran the lead leg in 1:58.7, followed by sophomore Evan Kennedy, who ran the second leg in 1:55.6, before freshman Noah Drapeau completed the third leg in 1:59.3, and then junior Chris McCaffrey ran the anchor leg in 2:01.3.
  • Stonehill finished 18th in the team standings with six points. University of Connecticut won the New England Championship with 217.50 points, with Northeastern University second with 130. Southern Connecticut State University led the non-Division I programs with 43.50 points.

Other Results

  • Junior Ethan Famiano finished 13th in the 60-meter hurdles semifinals this morning in 8.44-seconds after qualifying 12th out of 30 entries in the prelims in 8.45-seconds.
  • Freshman Cameron Bernard placed 14th out of 20 qualifiers in the triple jump, clearing a distance of 43-feet, 1.50-inches, good for third among non-Division I entries.
  • Sophomore Shane Braz finished 25th in the 3000-meter run in a personal-best 8:54.93.
