NE10 Announces Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Award Recipients

EASTON, Mass. (March 27, 2020) – Stonehill College freshman Cameron Bernard has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Field Rookie of the Year for the 2019-20 indoor track & field season by the league's head coaches.

Bernard is just the second from the Stonehill track & field program to earn Indoor Field Rookie of the Year, joining Xavier Young, '19 who earned the honors after the 2017-18 indoor season. The NE10 started awarding the Field Rookie of the Year for indoor track & field in 2014.

Bernard, a three-time NE10 Field Rookie of the Week during the indoor season, scored in three of the four events he competed in at the NE10 Indoor Track & Field Championships. He posted season-bests in each of those three events, placing fourth in the high jump by clearing 6-feet, 1.25-inches, to go with a sixth place performance in the long jump with a distance of 21-feet, 11.75-inches and seventh place in the triple jump by clearing 43-feet, 6-inches.

Bernard, who competed at six meets in his first collegiate season, also ran the 60-meter dash and 60-meter hurdles. He clocked in a season-best time of 7.33-seconds in the 60m dash at the Beantown Challenge at Harvard University on January 11 and posted a season-best 8.80-seconds in the 60m hurdles at the Beantown Challenge as well.

Stonehill finished its 2019-20 season having posted a fifth-place team finish at the Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship, led by five All-NE10 performances. The program also had three of its student-athletes earn a total of five All-East Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
