Minneapolis, Minn., senior and NE10 Player of the Year is program's first All-American in 22 years

EASTON, Mass. (March 30, 2020) – Stonehill College senior guard Will Moreton, the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year, has been named a fourth team All-American by Division II Bulletin, the publication announced today.
Moreton, a three-time All-NE10 performer with first team honors this season, is the fifth student-athlete to receive All-America status from the Stonehill men's basketball program, for a total of seven All-America honors in program history. He is the first from the program to earn All-America honors since Shaun Fein was a third team selection from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) following the 1997-98 season. Also earning All-America honors from the Stonehill men's basketball program were two-time All-Americans Bob Reitz, '83 (1982-83 & 1981-82) and Bill Zolga, '80 (1979-80 & 1978-79) as well as Michael Allocco, '73 in 1972-72, who all earned NABC All-America honors.
Moreton earned All-East Region first team honors from both the NABC and D2CCA this season as well as CoSIDA Academic All-District first team accolades. He led Stonehill in scoring, rebounding and assists for the third-straight season this winter, starting all 114 games of his collegiate career, including 29 this season, averaging 18.9 points (7th NE10), 8.9 rebounds (6th), 2.5 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.8 blocked shots in 34.9 minutes per game (11th). Moreton leads the NE10 and ranks fourth nationally in Division II with his 8.0 defensive rebounds per game, while ranking second with 13 double-doubles (20th nationally). He shot 44-percent from the field, including 42.3% (77-for-182) from three-point distance (5th), converting 74.3% (104-140) of his free-throws.
Moreton scored in double-figures in 27 of Stonehill's 29 games this season, leading the team in scoring 16 times with the Skyhawks posting an 11-5 record on those games, netting 20-plus points 14 times. He scored a season-high 35 points in Stonehill's win at Adelphi University (1/14), marking the team's lone 30-point game of the year and Moreton's fifth of his career, that includes a career-high 40 in a win over Franklin Pierce University as a junior, that marked Stonehill's first 40-point game since 1998.
Moreton led Stonehill in rebounding 18 games, with 13 double-digit rebound contests, including a season-high 14 four times. He led Stonehill in assists ten times this season, including a career-high seven in the Skyhawks NE10 Tournament win over Southern Connecticut State University. He averaged 19.7 points on 47% shooting, including 45.9% (56-122) from three, converting 77.4% (65-84) of his free-throws, with 9.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.5 steals in Stonehill's 19 NE10 games this season.
Moreton, named an honorable mention selection to the D2EastHoops.org All-Decade Team, finished his career ranked fourth in program history with 1,841 points, while his 265 career three-point field goals is second in program history behind only Jon Cronin, '92's 308 threes. Moreton is a 44.5-percent shooter for his career, including 39.6% from three, shooting 77.7% from the free-throw line, while adding 851 rebounds, 274 assists, 131 steals and 79 blocked shots. He leads all active players in the NE10 for career points, which ranks 14th nationally in Division II, while ranking 12th among active players in Division II for rebounds, tenth with 32 career double-doubles and 14th for career three-pointers.
Moreton, a finance major, has been named to the NABC Honors Court, NE10 Academic Honor Roll, receiving Academic Distinction status for having a semester grade point average between 3.50 and 3.99 the last three semesters, the last six semesters and Athletic Director's Honor Roll four semesters for his efforts in the classroom. Moreton was one of three small college selections to USA Basketball East Coast last summer. The team, coached by Syracuse University associate head coach Adrian Autry, and included players from major Division I programs, toured and competed in Greece last June.
Stonehill finished its 2019-20 season with an 18-11 record overall, including 13-6 in the NE10, finishing second in the Conference's Northeast Division and reaching the semifinal round of the NE10 Tournament, before earning the program's 15th NCAA Tournament bid.
