EASTON, Mass. (February 5, 2020) – Stonehill College, ranked No. 7 in the D2SIDA East Region poll, buried 13 three-pointers on its way to a commanding 85-65 victory over rival Bentley University, ranked No. 8 in the D2SIDA East poll, in Northeast-10 Conference men's basketball action on Paula Sullivan Court at Merkert Gymnasium tonight.

Will Moreton Senior, Guard: Ninth double-double of the season with 20 points (7-for-16, 4-for-6 threes), including 13 in the first half, ten rebounds, two assists, a steal and blocked shot.

Owen Chose Junior, Guard: 19 points (8-for-13, 3-for-5 threes), including 11 in the second half, with three rebounds, four assists and a blocked shot.

Monty Urmilevicius Junior, Forward: 14 points (7-for-9) and five rebounds.

Andrew Sims Sophomore, Forward: Ten points (5-for-9), eight rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot.

Bentley

Chris Hudson Senior, Forward: 23 points (10-for-13, including 14 in the second half, five rebounds, two assists, three steals and two blocked shots.

Brian Wright-Kinsey Sophomore, Guard: 14 points (6-for-10) and five rebounds.

Mason Webb Sophomore, Guard: 11 points, four rebounds and two assists.

How it Happened

  • Stonehill led start to finish, hitting ten of its 13 three-pointers in the first half in building an 18-point halftime lead and didn't look back. The Skyhawks finished shooting 56.5-percent (35-for-62) from the field, including 13-for-21 (61.9%) from three-point distance.
  • Stonehill scored the first five points of the game, including Moreton's first three-pointer, on its way to an 11-3 lead less than four minutes into the game after a second Moreton triple.
  • Stonehill grabbed a ten point lead (17-7) with Moreton's fourth three-pointer of the opening seven minutes before Bentley scored six straight to draw back within four (17-13) after a Webb jumper with 12:06 left in the first half.
  • Stonehill used a 15-3 run, fueled by three-pointers from three different players, to turn a five point lead (22-17) after a Hudson layup midway through the half into a 17 point advantage (37-20) after a Sims layup with five minutes to go until halftime.
  • Urmilevicius sent Stonehill into halftime with an 18-point lead (49-31) after a layup at the buzzer and then stretched the Skyhawks lead to 20 (51-31) by scoring the opening basket of the second half.
  • Bentley wouldn't get back within 14 points the rest of the way, drawing within 15 (55-40) after a three-point play from Hudson five minutes into the second half, but Chose followed with a three-pointer.
  • Bentley was within 14 (69-55) after a layup by Wright-Kinsey with six minutes remaining, but Stonehill answered again, restoring a 20 point lead (80-60) on an Urmilevicius layup with 2:17 to go.

Noteworthy

  • Moreton surpassed 1,700 points with his 20 points, finishing the game with 1,717 points in 107 career games – 40 points from cracking the top five on Stonehill's career scoring list.
  • Senior Brandon Twitty connected on two three-pointers to move into a tie for seventh in program history with 179 career three-point field goals, matching Brian Hamor, '13 (179), one three-pointer behind Adam Bramanti, '16 (180) for sixth all-time.
  • Moreton has now scored in double-figures in 21 of Stonehill's 22 games, giving him 85 career double-figure games, with his 11th 20-point game of the season (30th career).
  • Moreton's ninth double-double of the season gives him 28 for his career.
  • Stonehill's four-game winning streak is the longest current upswing in the NE10, with the Skyhawk having won six of their last eight.
  • Stonehill sits a game in front of its next opponent, Saint Anselm College, atop the NE10's Northeast Division standings with five games to play. The Skyhawks can wrap up a spot in the upcoming NE10 Tournament with a win or Assumption College loss (at Southern New Hampshire University) on Saturday.
