Moreton Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District® Honors

EASTON, Mass. (February 20, 2020) – Stonehill College senior guard Will Moreton has earned a spot in the CoSIDA Academic All-District® first team in District I, as selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) in the East Region. Moreton is now eligible for Academic All-America® honors, selected by CoSIDA's Academic All-America® committee, as well as voters from Division II, to be announced on Tuesday, March 10.

Moreton, who has recorded a 3.48 cumulative grade point average as a finance major at Stonehill, earns Academic All-District® honors for the first time in his career. He is the fourth Academic All-District® selection all-time for the Stonehill men's basketball program and its first since Pierce Cumpstone, '16 was a first team pick during the 2015-16 season. Moreton is one of four Northeast-10 Conference student-athletes among the five All-District® selections this year and he is Stonehill's fourth All-District® selection of the academic year overall.

Moreton is a two-time All-NE10 second team selection over his career at Stonehill, earning a spot on the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court following his junior year. He has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll five semesters, receiving Academic Distinction status each of the last three for having a semester GPA between 3.50 and 3.99. Moreton has also been named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll four semesters for having a GPA above 3.20 and was named to the NE10 All-Rookie Team as a freshman.

Moreton, who has started all 111 games of his collegiate career, leads Stonehill in scoring, rebounding and assists for the second-straight year, having also led the Skyhawks in steals as a junior. He is currently eighth among NE10 scoring leaders with 18.6 points per game, while ranking fifth with 8.8 rebounds to go with 2.4 assists, 1.3 steals and nearly a blocked shot per game. Moreton leads the NE10 and ranks 25th nationally by connecting at 44.7-percent (72-for-161) from three-point range, ranking fifth with his 2.8 three-pointers per game, while shooting 44-percent from the floor overall and converting 74.8-percent of his free-throws.

Moreton ranks second in the NE10 (18th nationally) with his team-high 11 double-doubles this season, having led Stonehill in scoring and rebounding 15 times this winter, scoring in double figures 24 times in the Skyhawks 26 games. He is second in the NE10 and fifth nationally in Division II with his 7.9 defensive rebounds per game, while He has reached 20-plus points 12 times this season (31 career), including a season-high 35 points in the Skyhawks 74-57 win at Adelphi University on January 14. Moreton has scored 30-plus points five times in his career overall, including a career-high 40 points in a win over Franklin Pierce University on February 14, 2019, marking the program's first 40-point game since 1998.

Moreton ranks fifth in program history with his 1,777 points, which leads all active players in the NE10 and is 13th in Division II overall. He is also second in NE10 history with his 260 career three-point field goals, ranking first among active NE10 shooters and 13th in Division II, while ranking tenth nationally among active players with his 822 career rebounds and 11th with his 30 career double-doubles. Moreton is shooting 44.5-percent from the field for his career, including 40.1% from three-point distance, and 78% from the free-throw line.

Moreton was one of three small college selections to USA Basketball East Coast last summer. The team, coached by Syracuse University associate head coach Adrian Autry, and included players from major Division I programs, toured and competed in Greece last June.

Stonehill (16-10, 11-5 NE10), ranked No. 6 in the first NCAA Division II East Regional ranking of the season released on Wednesday, is back in action on Saturday, when it closes out its regular season schedule by hosting Southern New Hampshire University for a Senior Day matchup at Merkert Gymnasium at 3:30 p.m.
