Skyhawks post first shutout in five years to open NE10 play 3-0 for first time since 2015
RINDGE, N.H. (October 12, 2019) – Stonehill College has won its first three Northeast-10 Conference games for the first time in four years after posting its first shutout in five seasons with a 52-0 triumph over Franklin Pierce University in NE10 football action at Sodexo Field this afternoon.
Stonehill piled up 568 yards of offense, with 286 passing and 282 on the ground, while its defense turned in another strong effort on the other side of the ball. The Skyhawks allowed 125 yards, including 82 passing and 43 rushing, seven first downs and held Franklin Pierce to just 3-for-17 on third down. Stonehill is now off to a 3-0 start in NE10 play for the fifth time in program history and first time since 2015 when the Skyhawks finished 5-4, while the Skyhawks registered its first shutout since a 33-0 win at Pace University in 2014.

Stonehill's defensive line dominated on the afternoon, with five of its leading tacklers in the contest coming from the trenches. Senior Maurice Greene registered a career-high seven tackles (two solo), including 2.0 tackles for a loss of nine yards, with 1.0 sacks for a loss of six and an additional quarterback hurry. Sophomore Justin Levsky added a career-best six stops (two solo), including 1.5 for a loss of five, and a half sack, while classmate Dominick Spano totaled six tackles (two solo), including 2.0 for a loss of five and a quarterback hurry. Senior Malik Wiggins chipped in with his first interception of the season (sixth career).
Junior quarterback Anton Stoneking engineered the Stonehill offense by completing a career-high 24-of-35 passes for a career-best 286 yards and three touchdowns. Senior Andrew Jamiel caught a season-high 11 of those passes for a season-best 139 yards and a touchdown, posting his 12th double-figure reception game and 13th 100-yard game of his career. He became the eighth player in NE10 history to surpass 3,000 career receiving yards, finishing with a program-record 3,043 yards on 266 receptions in his 34th career game, now ranking seventh in NE10 history. The touchdown reception is his program-record 27th career scoring reception and he moved into sole possession of second on program's career touchdown list behind only Eddie Vachon, '11 with 34.
Sophomore Justin Felder surpassed 100 yards rushing and scored three touchdowns for the third-straight week to lead the Stonehill rushing attack. He posted a career-high 166 yards on 17 carries, averaging 9.8 yards per rush, with three touchdowns. Felder has now scored nine touchdowns this season, six of which have been scored in the first quarter over the last three games. Classmate Landen Bates nearly hit 100 yards as well, finishing with a career-best 96 yards on 13 carries and his first career touchdown, averaging 7.4 yards per touch.

Stonehill also got touchdowns this afternoon from juniors Jack Fields and Jean Rivera, who caught three passes for a career-high 65 yards. The Skyhawks have now had ten different players reach the end zone this season.
Senior Matt Haite scored ten points and averaged 58.6 yards on his nine kickoffs with three touchbacks, delivering a 32-yard field goal. The field goal is the 34th of his career (on 49 attempts), breaking the program record of 33 set by Stephen Gryzwacz, '16. Haite has now scored 204 career points, moving into a tie for second all-time with Vachon behind Grzywacz's career mark of 212 points. Haite also surpassed 100 career PATs, with his 102 career extra points now 11 shy of the Grzywacz record of 113.
Freshman Najiere Hutchinson posted a game-high 11 tackles (five solo) for Franklin Pierce, including 1.0 tackles for a loss of a yard, with a pass breakup. Freshman Brice Brown added seven stops (two solo) and a forced fumble, while classmate Ishmael Johnson chipped in six tackles (four solo) and a fumble recovery.
Junior Lo Jackson, Jr. finished with 90 all-purpose yards, seeing time at running back, quarterback, kick returner and punter in the contest. He had three carries for 37 yards, completed 1-of-3 passes for 18 yards, returned three kickoffs for 50 yards and added a three-yard reception, while averaging 35.2 yards on six punts.

Freshman Drew Campanale completed 10-of-22 passes for 64 yards with an interception, while being sacked four times.
Stonehill scored on five of its six first possessions, including its first three to open a 21-0 lead after the first quarter. The Skyhawks have now scored first in all five games this season and outscored their opponents 70-14 in the first quarter. Felder scored the first two touchdowns of the game on runs of 15 and 14 yards to give Stonehill a two touchdown lead less than six minutes into the game after getting the ball inside Franklin Pierce territory for its first two possessions.
Jamiel added his fourth touchdown catch of the year with a 16-yard touchdown pass from Stoneking with 4:18 remaining in the first quarter. Stoneking followed with touchdown passes to Fields, for six yards, and Rivera from 35-yards out in the second quarter to send the Skyhawks into halftime with a 35-0 lead. Felder finished off his three touchdown day with a 33-yard rush up the middle 7:20 into the third quarter and then Haite delivered his record-breaking 32-yard field goal with 1:04 left in the frame. Bates capped the scoring on the afternoon with a four-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter.
Stonehill (4-1, 3-0 NE10) returns home next Saturday, to host rival Bentley University for an NE10 battle at W.B. Mason Stadium at 1 p.m. Franklin Pierce (1-5, 0-4 NE10) hosts Saint Anselm College next Saturday at noon.
