150 Years of College Football
2019 marks a special milestone for college football, as it celebrates 150 years of the great game. Teams will recognize the birth of college football with a national all-division celebration among nearly 900 schools. Played longer than almost any sport in America, college football had its first contest in 1869 - just four years after the Civil War, when students from Princeton and Rutgers came together to compete on a campus field, November 6, 1869. The sport has touched millions on and off the field - shaping our lives and communities. Follow College Football 150 and visit cfb150.org throughout teh 2019 season to commemmorate the 150th anniversary of college football.

Split Allegences
New Haven head coach Chris Pincince is a 1994 graduate of Boston University, but his two brothers, Tom and Jon Pincince, both graduated from Stonehill. Tom, a 1997 Stonehill graduate, was a quarterback on the football team and still ranks seventh all-time with his 2,411 career passing yards and 24 touchdown passes. Jon is a 1999 Stonehill grad.

New Look NE10
2019 marks a year of change in the Northeast-10 football landscape after defending champion LIU Post and Merrimack reclassified to NCAA Division I since the end of last year. The NE10 welcomes a new football member in Franklin Pierce, which fielded a sprint football team for six years prior to this year.

Two Dates
Due to the timing of the Merrimack and LIU Post departures last year after the 2018 NE10 schedule was completed, and just one incoming program (Franklin Pierce), it was decided that the eight existing Conference members would play a second non-conference game against its final NE10 regular season game of the year in week two. The Skyhawks drew New Haven to round out their 2019 slate and will host the Chargers for their home opener at W.B. Mason Stadium next Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

Offensive Player of the Week
Senior wide receiver Andrew Jamiel (Yarmouth, Mass.) was named the NE10 Offensive Player of the Week on Monday for the third time in his career for his efforts in Stonehill's week one win at Bloomsburg. Jamiel posted the 12th 100-yard receiving game of his career as he caught nine passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns. He registered six catches for 94 yards and a score in the first half alone as Stonehill staked out a 24-7 halftime lead. Jamiel opened the scoring when he capped the opening drive of the game with an 11-yard touchdown catch and then his 22-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter gave the Skyhawks a 33-7 lead. Jamiel also collected Offensive Player of the Week honors on October 17, 2016 and then November 6, 2017.

Special Teams Player of the Week
Senior placekicker Matt Haite (Pembroke, Mass.) was named the NE10 Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday for the second time in his career for his efforts in Stonehill's week one win at Bloomsburg. Haite scored nine points by converting two field goals and three extra points in the win. He sandwiched halftime with field goals of 32 and 31 yards as Stonehill was in the midst of scoring 26-straight points to take control of the game. He also helped the Skyhawks control field position by averaging 59.8 yards on his six kickoffs, with three touchbacks. Haite earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors for the first time on September 5, 2016.

They're Honored
Senior linebacker Miles Strickland (Teaneck, N.J.) and junior quarterback Greg Powell (New Rochelle, N.Y.) were both named to the NE10's weekly honor roll on Monday, for their efforts in Stonehill's week one win at Bloomsburg. Strickland led a Skyhawks defense that held Bloomsburg to just 168 total yards, including 52 through the air, seven first downs and seven offensive points (none after the first quarter). He totaled five tackles (two solo), including 1.0 tackles for a loss of a yard, an interception and pass breakup. Powell recorded 212 total yards and three touchdowns while splitting the quarterback duties on Saturday. He completed 11-of-14 passes for 177 yards and two scores, while adding another on the ground, where he rushed the ball seven times for 35 yards.

Close Series
This afternoon marks the 11th meeting all-time between these two programs. New Haven holds an 8-2 advantage in the all-time series that dates back to 2009, having won the last two matchups, including a rain-soaked 12-7 triumph here at W.B. Mason Stadium last season. While the Chargers have been able to win all but two matchups, the difference between the teams on the field has been razor thin. The last seven meetings between the teams have been decided by an average of 5.3 points.

On the Edge of History
Seniors Brian Kearns, Jr. (North Arlington, N.J.) and Andrew Jamiel (Yarmouth, Mass.) both enter this afternoon's game on the verge of making history, needing one touchdown to set new program records for rushing and receiving. Kearns, Jr. has scored 24 rushing touchdowns in 29 career games for the Skyhawks, matching the program record set by Eddie Vachon, '11 after posting back-to-back double-figure touchdown seasons in 2017 and 2018, including a career-best 12 last fall to also match Vachon's single-season record set in 2010. Jamiel has matched Nate Robitaille's '15 career record for touchdown receptions with 25 after his pair last week.

Records, Records, Records
Senior wide receiver Andrew Jamiel (Yarmouth, Mass.) enters this afternoon's game on the verge of another program record, with his 2,712 career receiving yards. He ranks second all-time and needs just 33 yards to surpass Nate Robitaille's '15 program mark of 2,744. Jamiel has already set the program mark for receptions, now with 242 in 30 career games, and ranks tenth in NE10 history for career receiving yards.

Splitting the Uprights
Senior placekicker Matt Haite (Pembroke, Mass.) is ranked second in program history with 31 career field goals made, now just two shy of the program record of 33 by Steve Grzywacz, '16 (GRIZ-wack). Haite also ranks third all-time with 85 career made PATs, two behind Pat Matthews, '96 (87) for second all-time in pursuit of Grzywacz's program record of 113. Haite currently ranks second all-time for career PAT percentage (92.4%) and FG conversion percentage (70.5%).
