The Game
Following a pair of non-conference games to open the season, Stonehill College visits Saint Anselm College to open the Northeast-10 Conference schedule for the 15th "Battle for the Ol' Bronze Hawk at Grappone Stadium tonight. The Skyhawks are aiming to bounce back from a tough setback to the University of New Haven in their home opener last weekend after opening the year with a commanding win at Bloomsburg (Pa.) University. The Hawks are looking for their first win after losses to California (Pa.) University and Assumption College over the first two weeks.

Battle for the Ol' Bronze Hawk
Stonehill holds a 14-0 all-time record in the "Battle for the Ol' Bronze Hawk" after last year's 57-54 3OT win over Saint Anselm here in Manchester. The "Ol' Bronze Hawk" is given to the winner of the annual football matchup between the Skyhawks and Hawks and was unveiled in 2006. Stonehill has held possession of the valued hardware each of the 14 years so far, outscoring Saint Anselm 516-275 in that time. Stonehill has won 15-straight meetings overall between the two and is now 16-5 all-time against the Hawks.

New Hawk, Better than the Ol' Hawk
The Ol' Bronze Hawk got a facelift this summer after 14-years of wear and tear to the original Hawk trophy. Bridgewater Trophy in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, upgraded the "Bronze Hawk" with a metal hawk and larger base that now holds the series history on its side.

A Wild "Battle"
Stonehill survived triple overtime to retain the "Ol' Bronze Hawk" for the 14th-straight year with a 57-54 victory here in Manchester last season. Stonehill and Saint Anselm combined for 111 points, 986 yard of offense on 199 plays, with 51 first downs and 43 possessions, with the Skyhawks coming from behind five times, including a ten-point deficit midway through the third quarter, for the win. Stonehill piled up 318 rushing yards as Brian Kearns, Jr. (North Arlington, N.J.) finished with 180 yards and a career-best three touchdowns on a school-record 44 rush attempts.


Jamiel

On the Edge of History
Senior wide receiver Andrew Jamiel (Yarmouth, Mass.) enters tonight's game on the verge of setting two new program career records. He has already matched Nate Robitaille, '15's career record for touchdown receptions with 25 after his two touchdown catches at Bloomsburg in week one. Jamiel also needs just 11 receiving yards to pass Robitaille's career record of 2,744 yards, having posted a program-record 244 receptions for 2,734 yards in 31 career games.

Passing Contrast
Stonehill enters tonight's game ranked first nationally in Division II for passing defense, yielding just 54 yards per game through the air after two games, leading the NE10 (10th nationally) for pass efficiency defense at 88.30, allowing one touchdown with one interception. Saint Anselm leads the NE10 and ranks fifth nationally for passing offense with 366.5 yards per game after two weeks.

Efficient Pair
Stonehill has featured two quarterbacks over the first two weeks in juniors Anton Stoneking (Clayton, N.C.), who has started the first two games, and Greg Powell (New Rochelle, N.Y.). They have combined for an NE10-best 145.42 passing efficiency rating, averaging 204.5 yards (2nd) with an NE10-best 67.3-percent completion percentage (10th nationally) and a league-high three combined touchdown passes after two weeks. Powell leads the NE10 (14th nationally) with a 66.7-percent (20-for-30) completion percentage and a 153.12 efficiency rating.


Haite

Splitting the Uprights
Senior placekicker Matt Haite (Pembroke, Mass.) is ranked second in program history with 31 career field goals made, just two shy of the program record of 33 by Steve Grzywacz, '16 (GRIZ-wack). Haite also ranks third all-time with 86 career made PATs, one behind Pat Matthews, '96 (87) for second all-time in pursuit of Grzywacz's program record of 113. Haite currently ranks second all-time for career PAT percentage (92.4%) and FG conversion percentage (69%).

Possessed
Stonehill ranks fourth in the NE10 (44th nationally) in time of possession, averaging 31:59 per game over the first two weeks. The Skyhawks have racked up the possession in the first half, averaging 8:30 in the first quarter, including 9:34 against New Haven last week, and 8:41 in the second, including 10:09 at Bloomsburg in week one.

D-Fense
Stonehill ranks second in the NE10 and ninth nationally in Division II for total defense, yielding just 228.5 yards per game through the first two weeks. The Skyhawks lead the country in passing defense (54.0 yds/gm) and rank sixth in the NE10 for rushing defense (174.5 yds/gm).


Bresson

A-Bresson of the Situation
Junior defensive lineman Nate Bresson (Torrington, Conn.) is just three tackles for loss away from cracking the program's career top ten with his 24.0 tackles for loss in 22 career games played, after posting a pair of TFLs against New Haven last week. He finished his sophomore year ranked second in the NE10 (47th nationally) with his career-best 14 tackles for loss (56 yards).
