EASTON, Mass. (April 29, 2022)- The Stonehill College baseball team headed up to Saint Anselm to start a four-game Northeast-10 Conference series where the Skyhawks came away with an 8-2 victory.

Standout Performances:

Key Moments:

  • Stonehill started the first inning with four straight hits, three of which were doubles. Kiely led the frame off with a double to left before eventually scoring on a double by Noah Lucier. Lidsky followed up a Farragher single with his own double to bring home Lucier for the early 2-0 lead.
  • The Skyhawks continued their momentum when Farragher launched his fifth home run of the season and sent a solo shot to right field which increased their advantage to 3-0 after three.
  • From there, Stonehill starter, Luke Marshall, kept the Hawks offense at bay with a stretch where he retired 11 straight batters from the third through the seventh inning. Out of those 11 batters, Marshall retired eight of them via strikeouts including a point in the fifth where he struck out the side. Overall on the day, Marshall posted a career-high 12 strikeouts.
  • Kiely continued his strong day when he led off the top of the fifth with a double for his second hit of the afternoon. Later in the inning, Ciulla-Hall scored Kiely (4-0) after he sent a single to right-center.
  • Later in the seventh, a two-out bases-loaded double courtesy of Gaspar plated two more runs for the Skyhawks and pushed their lead to six (6-0).
  • After Lidsky pushed the lead to seven (7-0) off a sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth, Saint Anselm responded in the bottom half of the frame when Salvatore Pezzolla recorded a late RBI single.
  • However, Stonehill added another run in the top of the ninth as Brandon Taylor was hit by a pitch and then made his way to third on a throwing error later in the frame. Despite Mike Swanholm grounding out, Taylor would cross the plate on the play to regain the seven-run edge (8-1).
  • Saint Anselm added one run late in the bottom of the ninth off a solo home run by Mike Borrelli, but Max Brulport retired the next three batters (two of which were on strikeouts) to secure the Stonehill win.

Win: Stonehill-Luke Marshall (2-4)
