Baseball Drops Series Opener To No.17 Southern New Hampshire, 4-3

HOOKSETT, N.H. (March 25, 2022)-Despite Blaine Lidsky's late two-run home run in the eighth, the Stonehill College baseball team fell to No.17 Southern New Hampshire, 4-3 Friday afternoon at Penmen Field.

Key Moments:

  • Southern New Hampshire struck first in the bottom of the second when Alex Kennedy hit an RBI single to right for a quick 1-0 lead. 
  • However, Stonehill responded right away and tied the game up at one Brendan Taylor took advantage of a passed ball after he had walked to lead off the inning. 
  • The Penmen reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run inning that featured Kennedy's second RBI on the afternoon. 
  • After Southern New Hampshire added another run in the sixth (4-1), the Skyhawks cut the deficit down to one (4-3) when Lidsky launched a two-run home run to center. Lidsky's two-run home run now leads the team with six. 
  • In the ninth, Stonehill threatened when Taylor Gaspar moved up to second on a passed ball with two outs. However, the Penmen ended the thereat to hold on for the one-run win. 
  • Despite the loss, Luke Marshall struck out a season-high seven batters on the day. In his last three starts, Marshall has recorded five or more strikeouts.
