WORCESTER, Mass. (April 10, 2022)- The Stonehill College baseball team continued their Northeast-10 Conference four-game series against Assumption today where the Greyhounds swept the Skyhawks by scores of 7-2 and 8-4 Sunday afternoon at Rocheleau Field.

Game one: Stonehill 2, Assumption 7

Standout Performances:

Key Moments:

  • Assumption quickly went up 3-0 in the first inning but Stonehill cut the deficit to two (3-1) in the second inning when Lidsky led the frame off with a solo home run to right field. Lidsky's home run is his seventh of the season which leads the team and ties him for first in the NE10.
  • The Greyhounds added yet another run in the bottom of the second to bring their lead back up to three (4-1). However, the Skyhawks again cut the Assumption lead to two (4-2) when Lidsky hit a double to left that brought home Farragher who had doubled to lead off the frame.
  • Despite cutting the Assumption lead back to two, the Greyhounds posted a two-run fourth (6-2) which included an RBI double to left courtesy of Jake Hamel
  • After Assumption added another run to their lead in the fifth (7-2) off a Jack Barry home run, the Skyhawks left runners on base in both the sixth and seventh, but unfortunately could not bring another run across as the Greyhounds held on for the win.

Game two: Stonehill 4, Assumption 8

Standout Performances:

Key Moments:

  • Just like the first game, Assumption started off with a three-run first in an inning that featured a two-run RBI double courtesy of Jack Barry.
  • The Greyhounds offense continued their momentum when they plated four runs between the second and third innings (7-0) and in those two innings, Barry and Sean Moynihan each had home runs.
  • Stonehill did not go quietly as the purple and white scored their first run in the fourth when Brandon Taylor capitalized on a passed ball to cross the plate.
  • The Skyhawks cut the deficit down to five (7-2) when Doughlas sent a single to right field that scored Kidder who had reached on an error by the third basemen.
  • After Assumption pushed their lead back to six (8-2), Stonehill cut the lead in half (8-4) in the seventh when Taylor drove home Lidsky who had reached from a double earlier in the inning. In the next at-bat, Kidder launched his first collegiate home run to center which then made it 8-4. Despite scoring in back-to-back at-bats, the Greyhounds shut down the Stonehill offense to secure the victory.
