Kiely Named to NCBWA Preseason All-East Region Second Team

Portsmouth, R.I. junior outfielder named to NCBWA Preseason All-East Region Second Team for first time in career.

EASTON, Mass. (January 25, 2022)- For the first time in his career, Stonehill College junior outfielder, Conor Kiely was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Preseason All-East Region Second Team earlier today as announced by the organization. Kiely is now just the fourth Skyhawk in program history to earn NCBWA Preseason honors.

Kiley has already earned a plethora of awards in his Stonehill career. Last season, he was named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-East Region Team and NE10 All-Conference First Team (first time since 2015 a Skyhawk was named to the NE10 First-Team). Kiely led the team last year with a .400 batting average as he was in the leadoff spot. He also led the team in RBI, hits, runs scored, at-bats, on-base, and slugging percentage. He ended up going 46-for-115 at the plate driving in 23 RBI, walking 14 times. He also tallied six doubles and two triples, crossing the plate 30 times. With his team-leading .496 on-base percentage and not being caught once, Kiely stole 18 bases, sitting second on the team. In the outfield, Kiely totaled 34 putouts for the Skyhawks allowing just two errors. 

Among the NE10 last season, Kiely ranked fourth in hits (46), fifth in stolen bases (18), sixth in batting average (.400) and on-base percentage (.496), 13th in runs scored (30), and 25th in RBI (23).

Stonehill starts their season next month (February 24) when the squad travels down to Myrtle Beach, S.C. for The Ripken Experience when they take on Franklin Pierce University at 5:30 p.m. Their first home game is Saturday, March 19 when they host The College of Saint Rose at noon.
