Bridgewater, Massachusetts, freshman earns first Goaltender of the Week Award; collects second Rookie of the Week honor

EASTON, Mass. (November 29, 2021) – For the first time in his collegiate career, Stonehill College freshman Gavin FitzPatrick has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Goaltender of the Week and for a second time was named the NE10 Rookie of the Week the league office announced today.

FitzPatrick recorded a season-high 43 saves (20 of which were made in the third period) in Stonehill's 5-1 victory against the University of Southern Maine in the Skyhawks lone game of the week. He finished the evening with a .977 save percentage in conceding just the one goal late in the third period after the Skyhawks had built a 5-0 lead.

FitzPatrick has made two starts for Stonehill this season playing a total of 120 minutes. He is 2-0 with a 2.00 goals against average, recorded 68 saves, and currently boasts a .944 save percentage. His first career win came against Franklin Pierce University in his collegiate debut on November 6 when the Skyhawks earned a 5-3 victory. He made 25 saves in the win, which included 11 third period stops that helped preserve the Stonehill victory.

Stonehill (3-5-1, 2-2-1 NE10) is back on the ice on Friday when it hosts Johnson & Wales University for a non-conference matchup at the Bridgewater Ice Arena at 7 p.m. The Skyhawks wrap up their homestand on Saturday, hosting Post University for an NE10 matchup at the Bridgewater Ice Arena with puck drop at 6 p.m.
