MANCHESTER, N.H. (November 13, 2021) - Saint Anselm College built a pair of two goal leads in the second period and made it stand in picking up a 3-2 victory over Stonehill College in Northeast-10 Conference ice hockey action at Sullivan Arena this afternoon.

The Details

  • Saint Anselm got goals again from three different people, while junior goaltender Nick Howard made them stand with 28 saves, including 13 over the final 20 minutes to hold off a Stonehill third period comeback effort.
  • Saint Anselm held a pair of two goal leads, while surviving a pair of power play goals from Stonehill on the afternoon.
  • Junior John Day registered 27 saves in the Stonehill goal.
  • Saint Anselm got on the scoreboard a mere 26-seconds into the contest with senior Kilian Hammersmith striking with his first goal of the season.
  • Senior Kevin Ouellette doubled the Saint Anselm lead 3:50 into the second period, but Stonehill got back in it late in the frame as junior Brendan Nehmer scored the Skyhawks first of two power play tallies, assisted by classmate Teddy McElaney with 2:40 to play.
  • Saint Anselm restored its two-goal cushion with just 16-seconds remaining in the second on sophomore Thomas Schwartz's fourth goal of the year.
  • Stonehill made a push to force overtime for the second-straight day, or even better, outshooting Saint Anselm 14-3 over the final 20-minutes. The Skyhawks drew within a goal again on the power play, as senior captain Charles Page scored his first goal of the season, from classmate Mike Seoane and junior John Peloso with 9:12 to play, but was unable to draw even down the stretch.
