Day Named NE10 Goaltender of the Week For Second Time

For the second time this season, North Reading, Mass. junior is named NE10 Goaltender of the week.

EASTON, Mass. (December 13, 2021)-For the second time this season, junior goaltender, John Day, was named the NE10 Goaltender of the week as announced by the league office earlier this afternoon. 

In a tightly contested 2-1 loss to Worcester State on Friday, Day had one of his stronger nights of the season. Against the Lancers, Day recorded 26 saves and posted a .929 save percentage. For the sixth time this season, Day made 25 or saves, and has also done the same in five out of his last six contests. His .929 save percentage was the fifth time this season he had a save percentage greater than 90 percent and has done so in four out of his last five games.

On the Season, Day is one of the top goalies in the NE10 as he ranked within the top-five of multiple categories that include save percentage (.911-third), saves (216-fourth), and is ranked within the top-10 of goals-against average (2.97-seventh). 

Day has now started nine games over his Stonehill career, posting a 2.82 goals-against average and .915 save percentage with 27.4 saves per game in 489:20. He has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll multiple semesters, while also earning Dean's List status as a marketing major at the College. Day serves as a student fellow for Team IMPACT on the Stonehill campus.

Stonehill has some much-deserved time off before resuming play again when they travel to SUNY Potsdam on Friday, January 7 at 7:30 p.m.
