SHELTON, Conn. (February 11, 2022)-Brendan Nehmer continued his strong stretch of play as he scored his third goal in four games, however, it was not enough as Stonehill fell to Post University, 4-1 Friday night in Northeast-10 Conference action at the Sports Center of Connecticut.

The Details:

  • Stonehill had an opportunity early in the contest when they drew a power-play just under two minutes in (01:41) the game but just could get the puck past Eagles netminder, Brandon Brown
  • As both sides played a hard-fought first period, Post struck first at the 16:30 mark when John Krapian deflected the shot of Harrison Sheldon into the net for the 1-0 lead heading into intermission.
  • However, the Skyhawks responded shortly into the second period (05:21) when John Peloso swung the puck over to Nehmer. Once Nehmer corralled the puck, he sent his shot past Brown and evened things at one. Nehmer now leads the team with ten goals and Peloso is tied with Nehmer in assists (nine).
  • 13 minutes later (18:21), Post retook the lead when Chase Lapworth fed Michael Gethings a pass in front of the net where he tapped home his shot for the 2-1 lead.
  • The Skyhawks again had a chance to retake momentum when they drew another power-play opportunity with just under a minute left (00:59) in the frame. Both Kyle Heath and Max Pineo got shots off during the power-play but unfortunately could not find the equalizer.
  • Despite doubling up the Eagles in shots in the third period (14-7), Post ended up adding on two more goals off the sticks of Evan Lugo (00:47) and Patrick Murphy (18:53) to give them the 4-1 win. On the evening, Stonehill goalie, John Day recorded 27 saves. In Day's last four out of games he has played in, he has made 25 or saves.
