Kiely and Tyman Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

EASTON, Mass. (May 16, 2023)Conor Kiely and Matt Tyman of the Stonehill College baseball team were named 2023 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Team honorees as announced by the organization earlier this afternoon. For Kiely and Tyman, the duo move forward onto the national ballot with the Academic All-America teams to be announced at the end of May.

Off the diamond, Kiely has done well in the classroom as the senior earned CSC Academic All-District® honors twice now and has been a member of the Dean's List multiple times as well. Kiely has also earned a spot on the NE10 Academic Honor Roll during his time with the Purple and White.

Kiely finishes his career with the Skyhawks, he has appeared in 136 games for the Skyhawks. He finishes with a batting average of .361 and drove in 66 runs. Of his 177 hits, 21 have been for doubles, one was a triple, and on May 12, he hit his first career home run. In his tenure with Stonehill, he has had 52 multi-hit games and recorded his 100th career hit last year versus Bentley on May 5. Earlier this year, he had a career-high 17-game hit streak. It was his second time this year with a hit streak of 10 or more games. He has been named an NEC Prime Performer and last year was an NCBWA Preseason All-East Region Second Team honoree. He was an NE10 All-Conference First Team recipient and was named to the NE10 All-Rookie team.

Tyman has also been equally as impressive off the field as the senior has been named to the Dean's List multiple times and also earned a spot on the NE10 Academic Honor Roll. For Tyman, this marks his time being placed on the CSC Academic All-District® Team.

In his tenure with the Skyhawks, Tyman has appeared in 43 games and started in eight of them on the hill for the Purple and White. He earned five wins in his four years with a career-low ERA of 4.15 in 2020. Last month he pitched his first career complete game and had his first ever shutout in a 3-0 win over Delaware State where he struck out a season-high six batters. He is a two-time NEC Pitcher of the Week.

To be eligible, nominated student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average in his second year at the current institution and must have played in at least 50 percent of the team's games.

About College Sports Communicators

College Sports Communicators (CSC) was founded in 1957 and is a 3,200+ member national association for strategic, creative and digital communicators across intercollegiate athletics in the United States and Canada. The current name of the organization was adopted following a membership-wide vote on Aug. 31, 2022.

From its founding in 1957 until the 2022 name change, the organization was known as College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The name change signaled a major step in a larger strategic plan to highlight the association's evolution and expansion. The move better aligns with the association's membership makeup and further positions the organization to support and advocate for its members who serve in the communications, digital and creative college sports industry, regardless of position or title.

The organization, which celebrated its 65th year during the 2021-22 academic year, is the second oldest management association in all of intercollegiate athletics. College Sports Communicators became an affiliated partner with NACDA (National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics) in December of 2008.
