Stonehill Wraps Up Series Finale At Norfolk State

NORFOLK, Va. (April 2, 2023)- The Stonehill College baseball team concluded their three-game Northeast Conference set with the Norfolk State Spartans as the Skyhawks fell to the hosts, 8-2 Sunday afternoon at Marty Miller Field.

  • Norfolk State jumped out in front first in Sunday's finale as the Spartans posted a three-run second inning highlighted by a two-run RBI single off the bat of Dionte Brown which made it 3-0.
  • Stonehill responded in the top half of the third and cut the deficit to two (3-1) when Sam Parks drove in Ryan Douglas who had singled to lead off the inning. 
  • However, the Spartans would put the game out of reach as Norfolk State utilized a four-run third (7-1) which featured a two-run RBI single from Cam Mazell which made it 6-1 at the time.
  • After scoring another run in the fourth to make it 8-1, the Skyhawks would get a run back in the sixth when Lidsky notched an RBI single to left that allowed Parks to score after he drew a walk that led off the inning.
  • Down to their last at-bats in the ninth, Douglas drew a walk to have a runner on however the Spartans ended up getting out of the inning and secured the series sweep.
