Stonehill, Coach Boen Announces 2023 Schedule For Inaugural Division I Season

2023 Schedule

EASTON, Mass (January 20, 2023)- Stonehill College baseball head coach Pat Boen announced the Skyhawks' 2023 schedule on Friday. The inaugural Division I slate features 30 Northeast Conference games across 10-weekend series, as well as 21 matchups against non-conference opponents.

"We are very excited about the 2023 season and the opportunity to play division one baseball," said Coach Boen. "It will be a challenge to compete at the highest level, but the team has been working extremely hard and challenging ourselves to rise to the opportunity. We will play one of the toughest nonleague schedules in the area with trips to Tarleton state out of the Western Athletic Conference, a Midwest trip to Kansas State in the Big 12, and Omaha in the Summit League. As we join the NEC, we will play 30 challenging league games against great competition. Also, being in New England we are able to play challenging athletic and academic schools: Northeastern, Harvard, Brown, Holy Cross, and UMass."

Stonehill opens the 2023 campaign with a 15-game road trip starting against Tarleton State (Feb. 24-26), Kansas State University (March 4 and March 6), Army (March 4 and March 5), University of Nebraska-Omaha (March 10-12), Sacred Heart University (March 17-19), and the University of Hartford (March 22).

Stonehill will play 19 games inside Lou Gorman Field, highlighted by opening weekend against fellow NEC member, Long Island University on March 24 through, March 26.

After traveling to Brown University (March 28), UMass Lowell (March 29), Norfolk State (March 31-April 2), and Northeastern University (April 5), the Skyhawks will have a quick homestand against Fairleigh Dickinson (April 6-8) and a non-conference matchup with Holy Cross (April 11).

The squad hits the road once again for an NEC matchup at Coppin State on April 14-16 and then Harvard University on April 18. Stonehill then hosts their longest homestand of the season with eight games against Deleware State University (April 21-23), Wentworth Institute of Technology (April 26), Merrimack College (April 30), and Northeastern University (May 3).

The Purple and White head out on their second to last road slate at Wagner College (May 5-7) and UMass Amherst (May 10) then return to Lou Gorman to wrap up their final homestand with a three-game NEC series versus University of Maryland Eastern Shore (May 12-May 14) and then an out of conference tilt with Bryant University (May 16) in their last home game. Stonehill concludes their first Division I season with a three-game set at Central Connecticut State (May 18-20).

The Skyhawks finished their final Division II season with an 18-29 record and a 7-17 record in the NE10. Stonehill's signature win came while the squad was in Florida against Bloomfield College in a 17-6 triumph where Coach Boen reached the 600-win plateau.
