BROOKLINE, Mass. (April 5, 2023)- The Stonehill College baseball team wrapped up their six-game road trip with a contest at Northeastern University where the squad fell, 10-0 Wednesday afternoon at Friedman Diamond.

Key Moments

  • After Northeastern got on the board in the first inning from a Cam Maldonado triple, Stonehill kept the Huskies offense at bay for the next two innings thanks to solid pitching from starter, Jonathan Rice.
  • In the fourth inning, Stonehill found themselves with an opportunity to pull ahead when Sam Parks made his way to second after the catcher had dropped strike three and would later steal second base in the inning. Later in the inning, Parks ended up stealing third but despite having a runner at third with two outs, Northeastern got out of the jam when Will Jones induced a flyout.
  • The Huskies increased their lead in the bottom half of the inning thanks to a three-run fourth courtesy of a three-run home run from Tyler MacGregor which made it 4-0. For the next two innings, the Huskies would tack on four more runs highlighted by RBIs from Mike Sirota and Matt Brinker.
  • Despite Mike Swanholm and Taylor Gaspar recording singles in both the seventh and eighth innings respectively, Northeastern's pitching shut down any rally Stonehill tried to start as the hosts maintained their seven-run lead.
  • Northeastern went on to add two more runs in the eighth (10-0) and would ultimately hold on for the non-conference victory.
