Stonehill Falls In Series Finale At Wagner, 10-1

STATEN ISLANDN.Y. (May 7, 2023)- The Stonehill College baseball team wrapped up its three-game Northeast Conference series at Wagner by falling 10-1 Sunday afternoon at SIUH Community Park.

Key Moments

  • Wagner started off quickly Sunday afternoon as the Seahawks plated six runs through the first four innings. Mateo Matthews highlighted the hosts scoring outburst when he hit a three-run home run in the fourth that made it 5-0 at the time.
  • Later in the top of the fifth, Stonehill trimmed its deficit to five (6-1) after Vivona hit his first collegiate home run to left field. 
  • However, the Seahawks responded in the bottom half of the inning with two more runs and increased their lead to seven (8-1). Three innings later, Wagner tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the eighth and made it 10-1. From there, the Seahawks held on for the series win.
