EASTON, Mass. (May 5, 2022)- The Stonehill College baseball team fell, 9-3, in the final Northeast-10 Conference series of the season to Bentley University on Thursday afternoon inside Lou Gorman Field.

Standout Performances:

Key Moments:

  • Bentley struck first early on in the top of the first when Cory Bright sent a hard hit to short that brought home two runs for the quick 2-0 lead.
  • Despite the fast lead, Stonehill starter, and reigning NE10 Pitcher of the Week, Luke Marshall stalled the Falcons' offense for the next three innings by retiring the next seven batters.
  • As Marshall kept the Falcons offense at bay, the Skyhawks threatened in the bottom of the fourth with back-to-back singles from Farragher and Blaine Lidsky to start things off. However, Bentley starter, Jimmy Hodgson retired the next three Stonehill batters to end the threat.
  • The Falcons opened the game in the top of the fifth by adding on three runs to make it 5-0. Eddy Beauregard was responsible for two of the runs that inning with a two-run home run.
  • Stonehill responded in the bottom half of the frame when Lucier ripped a single to center that plated Taylor Gaspar who had reached on an error by the Falcons shortstop earlier in the inning.
  • The Skyhawks continued their momentum heading into the bottom of the sixth as Ciulla-Hall cut the deficit to three (5-2). The sophomore designated hitter sent a double to deep left that brought home Lidsky after he was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning.
  • However, Bentley posted their second three-run inning in the seventh to push their lead back to six (8-2) courtesy of another Beauregard home run that made it 6-2 at the time.
  • Lucier drove in his second run of the contest in the bottom of the seventh and trimmed the deficit to five (8-3). After a lead-off Kiely triple, Lucier sent a single to left that brought Kiely across the plate.
  • Beauregard tacked on another run for the Falcons and increased the lead back to six (9-3) on an RBI single. Stonehill made things interesting at the bottom of the ninth when Farragher ripped a single to short that moved Lucier to second after he was hit by a pitch in the prior at-bat. Despite having runners at first and second, Hodgson escaped the jam to hold on for the win.

Pitching Records:
