WORCESTER, Mass. (April 12, 2022)- After being down by as much as seven runs (9-2), the Stonehill baseball team rallied to tie the game at 11 behind Blaine Lidsky's career-high six RBIs and a grand slam. Unfortunately, the squad could not pull ahead as Assumption held on for a 14-11 Northeast-10 Conference win Tuesday afternoon at Rocheleau Field.

Standout Performances:

Key Moments:

  • Assumption jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first inning highlighted by an RBI double from Jared Berardino. Later in the fourth, Eric Preston added a solo home run that pushed the Greyhounds lead to 5-0.
  • In the fifth inning, Stonehill slowly began to chip away at the Assumption lead when Lidksy reached on a fielder's choice that allowed Gaspar to score after he had singled to lead off the inning. In the very next at-bat, Trey Ciulla-Hall ripped an RBI single to score Noah Lucier who singled earlier in the fifth.
  • However, Assumption pushed their three-run lead up to seven (9-2) in the bottom half of the fifth after scoring four more runs that featured a two-run RBI single from Sean Moynihan.
  • Despite the large deficit, that did not deter the Skyhawks as the squad exploded for six runs in the inning to bring it within one (9-8). Kiely got the scoring started when he was able to reach on a fielder's choice that ended up scoring Taylor after he doubled to lead off the inning.
  • Farragher drove in the fourth Skyhawks run when he ripped a single down the right field line to bring home Sam Kidder. With the bases loaded and just one out, Lidsky made it a one-run game with his first career grand slam and NE10 leading eighth home run.
  • After the Greyhounds responded in the bottom of the sixth by adding two more runs (11-8), Stonehill came back and tied the game at 11 with a three-run seventh. Taylor started the rally when he launched his first collegiate home run that made it 11-9. Farragher continued the momentum when he capitalized on a fielding error by the Assumption shortstop that brought home Gaspar after he tripled earlier in the frame. Continuing his already solid afternoon, Lidsky drove in the tying run when he sent an RBI single up the middle.
  • The Greyhounds however recaptured the lead for good in the bottom of the eighth after they scored three runs (14-11), two of which came from a two-run home run from Cody Smith
