Stonehill Edged By American International College, 7-6

BOCA RATON, Fla. (March 7, 2022)- Despite a career-high four hits by Blaine Lidsky, Stonehill College fell to American International in a 7-6 battle.

  • After American International jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after three innings, Stonehill responded in the fourth and tied things up after Ciulla-Hall capitalized on a Yellow Jackets error that allowed Lidsky to score. Next, Roberti hit a deep sacrifice to center field that ended up scoring Ciulla-Hall. 
  • The Skyhawks continued their momentum in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead (4-2) when Lidsky launched a two-run home run for his third hit of the day. Prior to his home run, Swanholm started things off after he got on first base from another Yellow Jackets error. 
  • American International trimmed the deficit to one after the sixth inning (4-3) but reclaimed the lead with a four-run seventh (7-4) that featured a two-run RBI single from Chad Lavelle
  • Stonehill cut the Yellow Jackets lead to one (7-6) after Lidsky notched his fourth hit that scored Conor Kiely who had gotten hit by a pitch earlier in the inning. Swanholm later hit a sacrifice fly to score Matt Farragher after he drew a walk to get on base. 
  • The Purple and White threatened in the bottom of the ninth when Farragher smacked a double but the rally was cut short as James Flahive retired the next three Skyhawks batters.
