Northeast-10 Conference Announces Spring 2022 Academic Honor Roll

EASTON, Mass. (June 29, 2022)– The Northeast-10 Conference has announced its Academic Honor Roll for the Spring 2022 semester, recognizing 296 student-athletes from Stonehill who have earned a semester grade-point average of 3.00 or higher.

Among its 14 member and four associate member institutions, the Conference recognized 3,925 student-athletes (66%) for their academic achievements. The Academic Honor Roll (AHR) acknowledges the commitment of NE10 student-athletes to excel in the classroom with three designations: Academic Excellence (4.0 GPA), Academic Distinction (3.50-3.99 GPA) and Academic Honors (3.00-3.49).

13 of 14 NE10 full-member institutions had at least 55 percent of their student-athletes earn AHR status. Six institutions reached over 70 percent, while 11 had at least 60 percent of their student-athletes recognized.

Among the 296 Skyhawk student-athletes named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll, 19 earned a perfect 4.0 grade-point average. Women's soccer led the way with five student-athletes with 4.0 grade-point averages, whereas four other programs featured multiple 4.0's including field hockey, volleyball, and men's track and field. On the men's side, hockey led the way with 70 percent of the team making the honor roll, with baseball and men's soccer tied for second at 62 percent followed by men's track and field/cross country in third at 57 percent. On the women's side, softball led with 85 percent represented on the honor roll, volleyball and field hockey were tied for second at 84 percent, and women's soccer rounded out the top three with 82 percent.

Nickolas McNamee of the men's cross country/track and field team earned a 4.0 this semester while also being named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District® I First Team back in May. Victoria Butler of women's lacrosse was another Skyhawk who earned a 4.0 GPA and earned All-America status from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) in May. Along with McNamee and Butler, 17 others earned a 4.0 GPA including field hockey's Meghan Bean, Elisha Brinkman, and Calli West, volleyball's Shannon Burgess and Abby Remick, men's track and field/cross country's Aidan Byrne and Ethan Peck, baseball's Billy Duff, women's track and field/cross country's Margaret Gallagher, swimming's Morgan Gangi, women's soccer's Ashley Kendrigan, Bella MacNeil, Paige Marjanski, Peyton Nickerson, and Camryn Thompson, and football's Lloyd King.

With 23 intercollegiate sports when women's ice hockey takes to the ice for the first time in 2022-23, Stonehill boasts one of the top athletic and academic programs in the country. A charter member of the NCAA Division II Northeast-10 Conference since 1980, the College announced that the athletic department will begin a transition to NCAA Division I as a member of the Northeast Conference on July 1 for the 2022-23 academic year. Stonehill has won the NE10 Presidents' Cup six times, all coming within the last 15 years. The Skyhawks have received the NCAA Division II Presidents' Award for Academic Achievement each of the first ten years of the program's existence of honoring institutions with an Academic Success Rate (ASR) of 90-percent or better. The Skyhawks' 92-percent ASR for the cohort period of 2011-2014 ranks fifth among NE10 members and 20^th nationally among 303 NCAA Division II member institutions, with seven programs earning perfect ASR scores of 100%. The College ranks No. 98 in the category of National Liberal Arts Schools by U.S. News & World Report and No. 94 for the Best Value category.
