Borch-Nielsen Earns Northeast Conference Second and Rookie Team Honors

EASTON, Mass. (April 25, 2024) – Stonehill College men's tennis freshman Jacob Borch-Nielsen has been named to the All-Northeast Conference Second and Rookie Team's, the league announced Thursday afternoon.  

Borch-Nielsen, who was named an NEC Prime Performer after starting the year in singles competition with a 3-0 record, becomes the first men's tennis player to be named to an All-Conference team during Stonehill's NCAA Division I era.

The Oslo, Norway native lead the Skyhawks all season in both singles and doubles competition, compiling a 13-12 overall record in singles, including a 10-9 mark at the No. 1 singles position for Stonehill. In addition, Borch-Nielsen, and junior Jacob Wilhelm Krefting emerged as the top doubles pairing for the Skyhawks during the Spring campaign. The two tallied a team-high six wins at No. 1 doubles throughout the season.

Stonehill wrapped up its season with a 7-15 overall record, including 1-5 in conference play. The Skyhawks had a pair of milestone wins throughout the year, posting their first ever win against an NEC opponent on Saturday, Feb. 24 over Wagner, before securing the program's first NEC Tournament win against the Seahawks in comeback fashion on Friday, April 12.
