LAKEVILLE, Mass. (March 23, 2024) – The Stonehill College men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision at the Lakeville Athletic Club to Northeast Conference opponent FDU Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Skyhawks fall to 4-10 overall and 1-4 in conference play, while the Knights improve to 9-5 overall and 3-1 against conference opponents.

Highlights

Freshman Armaan Mullick picked up the lone victory for the Skyhawks at No. 4 singles.
Junior Thomas Linley and sophomore Gryffin Minor led four double-winners for FDU in the victory.
Senior Arjun Sriram and sophomore Andrew Nicolae also earned singles and doubles wins for the Knights.
Sophomore Jorge Alonso-Cortes capped off the FDU points on the day at the No. 5 singles slot for his team-leading 16th win of the season.

How It Happened

Linley teamed up with sophomore Joshua Oboniye to defeat freshman Jacob Borch-Nielsen and junior Jacob Wilhelm Krefting, 6-3, at No. 1 doubles.
Linley capped off his double-win on the day by winning the No. 2 singles match, 6-4, 6-3, over sophomore Mateo Mallen.
Minor and sophomore Tyler Crook secured the doubles point at the No. 2 slot, while Sriram and Nicolae rounded out the sweep of doubles competition against Mallen and senior Louis Coppi.
After the Knights won the first three matches of the singles competition, the Skyhawks struck back with a point of their own.
At the No. 4 singles position, Mullick defeated freshman Asaf Schwartz 7-6, 6-4, for his third overall win and second in NEC play this season.
Following Mullick's victory, Coppi and sophomore Mark Kröll would battle their opponents to three-set matches.
However, Alonso-Cortes and Nicolae would come out on top at the No. 5 and No. 6 singles slot to win the match over the Skyhawks, 6-1.
