EASTON, Mass. (September 20, 2023) – The Stonehill College men's tennis team earned its first win of the season in its home and season opener against Springfield College Wednesday afternoon.
Highlights
- First-year duo Jacob Borch-Nielsen and Alexis Chastang as well as sophomore pairing Mark Kröll and Mateo Mallen led the Skyhawks as double-winners on the day against Springfield.
- Sophomore duo Guillaume Duhil de Bénazé and Mathias Langaard combined to close out the sweep of doubles play at No. 3 doubles.
- Sophomore Donovan Rodrigues also earned a point for Stonehill with his three-set win at No. 6 singles.
- Junior Zach Taub earned Springfields point with a two-set victory over Langaard at No. 5 singles.

- Stonehill swept Springfield in doubles play with Mallen and Chastang securing the point after winning their matchup, 6-2, against sophomore Marc Villanueva Abad and junior Tatsuya Kimoto at No. 2 doubles.
- Borch-Nielsen secured a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles against Kimoto, while Chastang battled sophomore Phakin Thongbooncharoen to a three-set victory in No. 4 singles, each capping off their first collegiate double wins.
- Mallen completed his double with a 7-6, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles over Springfield sophomore Tim Norin.
- Kröll earned a straight set victory at No. 3 singles over Villanueva Abad, 6-3, 7-5.
- Rodrigues added a 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 triumph at No. 6 singles against junior Ethan Gomulka.
