Men's Tennis Drops Non-Conference Match at Siena

Borch-Nielsen remains undefeated at 3-0 in singles play.

ALBANY, N.Y. (September 29, 2023) – The Stonehill College men's tennis team dropped its first match of the season, falling to Siena College by a final score of 5-2 on Friday afternoon.

Highlights

  • Junior Maxwell Acri led two double-winners for Siena in the win. He was joined by first-year student Dylan Breen in notching wins in both singles and doubles play.
  • Acri and classmate Elijah Zifferblatt combined for a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles for the Saints, while first-year duo of Breen and Oscar Martinez teamed up for a 7-5 win at No. 1 to clinch the doubles point.
  • Acri followed with a 6-3, 6-3 decision at No. 4 singles against Stonehill first-year student Alexis Chastang.
  • Breen added a win for Siena at No. 5 singles over first-year student Armaan Mullick to clinch the match win.
  • Sophomore Mateo Mallen battled past Martinez in a third set tie breaker after the first two sets were split evenly, finishing with a 6-4, 1-6, 10-7 win at No. 2 singles.
  • First-year student Jacob Borch-Nielsen remains undefeated at 3-0 in singles play after his three-set victory at No. 1 singles against junior Fabio Varella.
