ORLANDO, Fla. (March 5, 2024) – Cornerstone University posted a 7-0 victory over Stonehill College in a non-conference men's tennis match during the Skyhawks annual Spring Break trip at the United States Tennis Association (UTSA) National Campus this afternoon.

Highlights

Juniors Joaquin Micheloni and Daniel Alfaro led four double-winners for Cornerstone in the victory.
Senior Jose Oliva and sophomore Jaden Bender also earned singles and doubles wins for the Golden Eagles.
Singles triumphs for Cornerstone went to juniors Santiago Castellanos and Luis Felipe Azurduy as the Golden Eagles swept the six singles matches to clinch the victory.
Junior Jacob Wilhelm Krefting and freshman Jacob Borch-Nielsen teamed up for a victory at No. 1 doubles for Stonehill.

How It Happened

Micheloni and Alfaro clinched the doubles point for Cornerstone with their 7-5 decision at No. 3.
Borch-Nielsen and Krefting battled to a 7-5 victory at No. 1 doubles over Castellanos and Azurduy.
Cornerstone won all six singles matches, with Castellanos topping Borch-Nielsen by just a single break at No. 1, 7-6, 6-4.

Micheloni rallied from a set down for a 2-6, 7-6, 10-8 decision at No. 3 singles against Krefting.
Alfaro also fought back from a set down at No. 4 singles for a 5-7, 6-4, 11-9 decision over Stonehill freshman Armaan Mullick.

Stonehill (4-6, 1-2 NEC) is right back on the courts tomorrow when it faces College of Charleston at the USTA National Campus at 11 a.m. The Skyhawks next home match is Saturday, March 16, when they host Saint Francis University for an NEC match. Cornerstone (5-5, 0-0 WHAC) faces Spring Arbor University in its second match of the day in Orlando.
