Men's Tennis Sweeps Doubles Competition on Senior Day

EASTON, Mass. (April 20, 2024) – The Stonehill College men's tennis team swept non-conference opponent Holy Cross in doubles competition before being rained out Saturday afternoon at the Charles Watt Tennis Courts. Prior to the start of doubles competition between the Skyhawks and Crusaders, Stonehill honored its lone senior, Louis Coppi, with a senior day ceremony.

How It Happened

  • The sophomore duo of Mark Kröll and Donovan Rodrigues earned their fifth win of the season as a double pairing.
  • Kröll and Rodrigues combined to earn a narrow 7-6 victory at No. 1 doubles against freshman Henry Winiecki and junior Jeremy Clark.
  • Freshman Jacob Borch-Nielsen and sophomore Mathias Langaard clinched the doubles point for the Skyhawks at the No. 2 slot.
  • Borch-Nielsen and Langaard secured their second win in a row as a double's combination over senior William Kelleher and senior Declan O'Flynn, 7-6.
  • Sophomore Mateo Mallen and Coppi capped off the sweep of doubles competition at the No. 3 slot.
  • Mallen and Coppi took down senior Connor Nelson and sophomore Camilo Illanes, 6-3, at the No. 3 doubles position.
