Men's Tennis Falls to Charleston, 6-1

ORLANDO, Fla. (March 6, 2024) – The Stonehill College men's tennis team fell to the College of Charleston at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida, 6-1, Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, the Skyhawks drop to 4-7 overall, while the Cougars improve to 7-4 on the year.

Highlights

  • Junior Mattia Bernardi and sophomore Eddie Vo led five double-winners for Charleston in the victory.
  • Graduate student Pietro Martinetti, junior Matias Gaedechens, and sophomore Jordyn Larke also earned singles and doubles wins for the Cougars.
  • Senior Zac Larke capped off the doubles sweep for Charleston alongside brother Jordyn at No. 3 doubles.
  • Freshman Jacob Borch-Nielsen picked up the lone victory for the Skyhawks at No.1 singles.

How It Happened

  • Bernardi and Vo teamed up to take down Borch-Nielsen and junior Jacob Wilhelm Krefting, 6-2, at No. 1 doubles, before the Larke brothers defeated senior Louis Coppi and sophomore Mark Kröll, 6-3, at the No. 3 slot.
  • Gaedechens and Rojas Mora clinched the doubles point for the Cougars against the sophomore duo of Mateo Mallen and Mathias Langaard.
  • The Cougars took five of the six singles matches, not dropping a set against the Skyhawks.
  • Borch-Nielsen earned the lone point for the Skyhawks with a win by retirement at No. 1 singles against Zac Larke.
