(May 13, 2023)- The Stonehill College baseball team was locked in all day as the Skyhawks posted a season-high 14-runs in Saturday's 14-2 Northeast Conference win over the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. With today's win, the Purple and White have now won their second NEC series on the year. The 12-run margin of victory is also the largest since 2020 after a 16-2 win over Concordia (N.Y.) College in Myrtle Beach, S.C. (Feb. 22).

Standout Performances

Key Moments

  • Stonehill again started off the scoring in the bottom of the first when Ciulla-Hall hit his team-leading, eighth home run that also broght home Conor Kiely after he led off the inning with a double.
  • However, in the top of the second, the Hawks trimmed the deficit to one (2-1) after a Luke Myers RBI single but from there, Stonehill starter, Jack Iannibelli was locked in as the freshman allowed only one more run after. During his outing, he had a stretch where he retired six-straight batters between the second and fourth innings.
  • From the third inning through the fifth inning, the Skyhawks plated three runs each in those innings and after the fifth, the Purple and White saw their lead balloon up to nine (11-2). In the Skyhawks first scoring burst in the third, Lidsky highlighted the scoring with a two-run RBI double that made it 4-1 at the time.
  • Later in the fourth, Jack Marshall was one of two Skyhawks with an RBI in that inning after he brought home Ciulla-Hall who was intentionally walked. In the Skyhawks third three-run inning, Lidsky once again highlgihted the scoring as the senior was locked in all day with his second two-run RBI hit and made it 11-2.
  • After the Purple and White added on another run (12-2) in the sixth off a Taylor Gaspar RBI double, University of Maryland Eastern Shore threatened in the seventh when the visitors had runners on second and third with two outs. However, Stonehill reliefe pitcher, Brendan Kelly escaped the jam when he generated a key flyout that kept the score at 12-2.
  • The Skyhawks went on to add two more insurance runs in the eight after RBIs from Kiely and Will Florio and in the ninth, Kelly shut down the Hawks offense for the series win.
