PROVIDENCE, R.I. (March 28, 2023)- The Stonehill College baseball team resumed their non-conference portion of their schedule with a matchup at Brown University. Despite a late eighth inning home run from Ryan Flaherty that made it 4-3, the Skyhawks fell by the same score Tuesday afternoon at Attanasio Family Field.

Standout Performances

Key Moments

  • Stonehill got on the board first when Ciulla-Hall ripped a double down the left field line that plated Conor Kiely who had reached earlier in the first after taking advantage of a Brown throwing error. However, in the bottom half of the inning, Brown evened things at one when Ryan Marra hit an RBI single to right.
  • The Bears grabbed their first lead of the afternoon later in the fourth when Conor Cooke hit a double to deep left and took a 2-1 advantage after four. Stonehill ended up responding in the top of the fifth when Lidsky hit a rocket to right that brought home Ciulla-Hall on an RBI single after Ciulla-Hall hit a single of his own earlier that inning.
  • After a scoreless sixth, Brown retook the lead in the seventh off a Marra two-run homer to right center that put the hosts up, 4-2. Like all game, the Skyhawks responded yet again in the eighth when Flaherty launched a homer to left center and made it a one-run ballgame.
  • In the top of the ninth, the Purple and White generated a mini rally after Ciulla-Hall notched his season-high, third hit of the afternoon with a single. After a Stonehill flyout, Lidsky hit a hard single on the left side whcih placed runners on first and second with one out. Despite the late push, Peter Dubie retired the next two Skyhawk batters for the 4-3 win.
